the rush

i stand on my side
you, your own
our stubbornness
in its wit
and whimsical way
pierces this room
the words
they pound
a cluster of angst
conflicted with emotion
an echo of voices
swallowing and feeding
the rip and the tear
the back and the forth
sucking the breath
clear from me
the space between us weakens
as we reach the narrow
straight and head on
no one to catch
nor hold us back
its inevitability
keeps me here
you with whom
i am most afraid
you who can never know
who i hide in my mind
who i want to write off
but can't shake
you who haunts me
who consumes me
and slowly removes me
